Handheld Ultrasound Cleaning and Disinfection Guide, Recommended for Collection
Cleaning and Disinfection Methods
Two methods (wiping and immersion) can be used for cleaning and disinfecting the probe. These cleaning and disinfection procedures apply to all probes. After each use, all probes should be cleaned and disinfected in accordance with the procedures specified in this section.
Note:
Before cleaning and disinfecting the device, the power must be turned off and the cable must be unplugged from the socket. Cleaning and disinfecting the device while it is powered on may pose an electric shock hazard.
1. Wiping
Procedure Steps:
a) Use a lint-free cloth or other soft cloth to wipe off residual ultrasound gel or stains from the probe.
b) Moisten a lint-free cloth or other soft cloth with a small amount of neutral soap solution to clean the probe. For dried blood, skin tissue, etc., use an appropriate multi-enzyme cleaner for soaking and cleaning.
c) Rinse the probe thoroughly with running purified water or distilled water. Then, wipe it with a disinfectant wipe or a soft cloth moistened with a cleaning disinfectant. Wipe the probe from the probe toward the cable direction, as shown in Figure 1.1 (probe illustration).
d) Then inspect the probe to ensure there are no remaining stains, and rinse it thoroughly with running purified water or distilled water (it is recommended to rinse for 3 minutes or more to ensure no disinfectant/cleaning agent residues are left). Dry the probe with a clean soft cloth.
e) Confirm that the sensor shows no signs of damage, deformation, or peeling.
Wiping Supplies
Wiping Liquid | Brand | Country of Origin | Product Type |
80% alcohol (soak the soft cloth with this solution) | Any manufacturer | Any | Cleaning or disinfection |
2. Immersion
Procedure Steps:
a) It is recommended to use the qualified immersion solution recommended in the table below for cleaning and disinfection. Follow the product requirements of the immersion solution during soaking. Do not soak the probe for more than 12 hours to avoid damage to the acoustic lens surface and outer casing.
b) The probe can be soaked for cleaning or disinfection within the specified scope (as shown in the diagram).
c) After soaking, rinse the probe thoroughly with distilled water (it is recommended to rinse for 3 minutes or more to ensure no immersion solution residue remains), then wipe it dry with a clean, soft lint-free cloth.
d) For the soaking, cleaning and disinfection scheme of the above probe, the container used must have a smooth and flat inner wall. During the probe soaking process, the liquid depth should be less than the specified immersion height as required by the immersion solution standard, so the acoustic lens will be in direct contact with the inner wall of the disinfection container. To prevent the acoustic lens surface from being scratched by sharp protrusions or burrs on the container’s inner wall, the inner wall of the disinfection container must be kept smooth and flat. After the probe is disinfected in strict accordance with the above procedures, the safety and effectiveness of the product when connected to the host can be guaranteed.
Immersion Solution
Immersion Solution | Brand | Country of Origin | Product Type |
2% Glutaraldehyde | Schulke&Mayr GmbH | DEU | Disinfection |
Caution:
1. Do not immerse the probe’s connecting plug in any liquid.
2. Do not let the probe come into prolonged contact with organic solvents (e.g., alcohol) (except for wiping disinfection), as this will damage the external paint.
3. When cleaning the device, do not allow liquid to enter the device, otherwise it may cause malfunctions or electric shock hazards.
4. If you need to clean other peripheral equipment connection devices, please contact our company’s sales office, customer service department or agent. Any self-cleaning may cause malfunctions or reduce device performance.
5. Do not soak the probe for more than 12 hours.
6. Only use qualified disinfectant solutions.
Caution:
– If the probe needs to be used during surgery, follow the guidance of professional disinfection personnel for disinfection.
– Power adapter maintenance:
If the product gets stained with dust or dirt, disconnect it from the power supply first, then wipe it clean with a dry cloth.
– No other maintenance methods are available.
