The Pet Apnea Monitor is easy to use (simply connect it between the endotracheal tube and anesthesia machine), sensitive to apnea (sounds a beep if the pet stops breathing for 15 seconds), features automatic on/off (turns on with the pet’s first breath, waits 25 seconds then beeps 20 seconds before turning off when disconnected), has a long-life built-in lithium battery (up to 2 years of service with no battery changes or maintenance), is easy to clean (wipe with 70% isopropyl alcohol-dampened cloth and dry before use, no immersion or autoclave sterilization), and should be stored in an enclosed space (plastic package or drawer) when not in use to avoid triggering its sensitive function.
